by Kosch 7. October 2009 18:51

This must be a first this evening we are only waiting just over 1 hour to login to Gorgos!

Hopefully they will open up server transfers soon then we can both start enjoying the game a bit more!

Aion, beta sign ups & ADSL trouble

by Kosch 6. October 2009 22:51

Well Aion is going quite smoothly bought the other half an account so she can play as well. The server queues on Gorgos are a nightmare sometimes 1-3 hour queue. So its a case of powering up both computers when either of us get home and signing in.

I've gone back to my roots with my class selection, the good old pet class (Spirit Master). Aaah such fond memory from playing a mage in EverQuest 1 for 6 years :)

You start off with the mage class as your primary choice then once you hit level 10 you can choose the Sorcerer or Spirit Master. Much like the Mage in EQ your pets have a varieties of roles from Caster/Melee DPS, Tank & somewhere inbetween.

So far I've progressed to level 20 which has also open up the AA/Talent tree system in Aion which involves buying shards and then gluing them in. Havent encountered any PvP but from what I saw in a Campaign quest it can only just be around the corner for my character.

Signed up for a few closed beta this evening, SW: The Old Rebpublic  & ST: Online Be warned when you sign up for TOR & apply for beta make sure you do it in IE rather than FF as their system scanner is an Active X control and their Java plugin doesnt seem to work. Dont know if I will hear anything back but worth a look.

The ADSL is still on the fritz and Sky is doing my nut. After having a flawless 5mbps (600kb/sec ish) connection for nearly 13 months the past 3 weeks its been totally flakey and gone down to nearly 3mpbs (410kb/sec ish) which sucks and also randomly disconnecting. Sky refuse to call BT until they send me some new equipment which is a load of crap as I have the issue with my router and their netgear one. I've tried things like using the test socket on the master socket and even removed my pre-filtered master plate  to make sure that wasnt causing any problems. I'm not sure if they have enabled DLM on my line or migrated it to ADSL2+ which is known to cause a few problems. Guess I will just have to jump through their hoops for the next 2 months. Theres a very helpful 3rd party user site for Sky ADSL users. The worst part is the random disconnects especially when your in a queue of three thousand people for AION and you loose your spots!

Hmm by the looks of it I need to get hold of some proper picture controls for blognet engine but I'll leave that for another time so heres some pics just jammed right on in the page there.

You can find my character online here - Terestier

Just remembered I was going to comment on Star Gate: Universe which was shown in Sky 1 tonight (HD for me) but forgot so I'll get around to that at some point. I think the 3rd episode is due to premier on the newly renamed SyFy channel in the USA this Friday. Maybe I can wait till tuesday to watch it on Sky who knows!

Avarst!

I'll have to come up with something clever to put here.

In the mean time enjoy a B5 quote.

Our great mistake, our failing and now your failing. The error is compounded.

What mistake?

The first one. The one from which all mistakes precede. The error of pride.

We had traveled to a thousand worlds. We brought order, discipline. We appeared to them as beings of light. They saw us as emissaries of the universe.

They saw us as gods. And we, in our pride, begin to believe them. We believed that we were superior to the universe that gave us birth. We believed that we could transcend this dimension, that we believed that we belonged to a another higher plain.

And in the end, in terms you can understand, we resolved to storm the gates of heaven itself. We applied all our wisdom. All our knowledge, to opening a door to another dimension. A place, we believed was the well of souls, the foundation for all life. We would touch the face of God and in so doing become gods ourselves.

We forgot that a door may swing in two direction. We were so concerned with getting out, that we never stopped to consider what we might be letting in, until it was too late...
